Introducing courseware - giving your users multiple courses in the right order

Course programmes allow you to group several courses into one programme, and also control the order in which the courses need to be done.

Why programmes - aren't several courses enough?

Evercate has come a long way since we launched our first version. We've seen several companies go from their first course to having four courses, to having 16 courses, and so on. We have seen how Evercate is used in different ways in different organisations. From a platform for deeper more comprehensive courses to a convenient tool to get information out to employees quickly and ensure it is received.

Something we have become increasingly aware of has been the need not to "bombard" users with courses and reminders. For example, for the new employee it can feel a bit overwhelming to be greeted with "Hey, here are 16 courses you have to do".

So we did what we like to do most - the difference between offering a platform with and for you. We listened to your needs, we discussed them internally, we proposed solutions and discussed with our customers, and then we further developed Evercate.

Need:

Be able to control with automation so a user who is going to have many courses can get them sequentially rather than all at once.

Be able to control automatically that a certain course must be done before another course can be started.

Be able to do the above in a flexible way that suits most situations/customers/organisations etc.

Being able to manage the whole flow in a simple way (after all, simple is our main value).

Solution:

Course programme

How does it work?

When you log in to the admin interface, and go to courses in the menu, you will see a new tab called "Programs". There you will find and manage your course programs. A program contains levels. For each level, you choose one or more courses that will be at that level. Under programs, you also decide which users will have the program with user rules, just like on a course.

For the user, the way it works is that he needs to pass all the courses in one level to unlock the next level, and the courses in that level. The user receives only one invitation, to the programme itself. Reminders work as usual, but only for unlocked courses. And, of course, it is possible to follow the progress of a user on an Administrator and Team Leader programme.
