Evercate

Set up and use a custom domain with Evercate

It is possible to connect a custom subdomain to your Evercate account. If you connect your own domain, it will be the domain used publicly for your Evercate account going forward. You will always keep your license.evercate.com address as well, but the new address will be used in links, invitations, and everywhere else your users interact with Evercate.

To connect your own domain to Evercate, you need access to your DNS. This is usually managed through your web hosting provider or domain registrar.

If you are unsure how to proceed with this guide, it may be a good idea to involve your IT department or someone else involved with your website to help out.

For the rest of this guide, we will pretend that we work for The Example Corp and that our domain is example.com.

  1. Create a new DNS record.
  2. Give the new record the subdomain of your choice, for example training.example.com. (In this case, the subdomain would be "training", since example.com is our domain).
  3. For the record type, select CNAME.
  4. For Time To Live (TTL), you can leave the default value or set any value you prefer.
  5. For Target/Value (a CNAME record always points to another address), enter application.evercate.com.
  6. Once you have set up your new DNS record, you need to notify our support team so we can make the final changes on our end. Send an email to support@evercate.com and include your current evercate.com address as well as the domain and subdomain you configured in the steps above.

Once we have connected everything on our end, you will automatically be assigned an SSL certificate for the new domain. The changes will take effect automatically and no further action is required on your part.
